GROHE sets corporate record at the iF design awards

Seven products win awards

Success to the power of seven! As far as the number of awards is concerned, the 2010 iF product design awards represent GROHE’s best performance ever. Europe’s market leader in sanitary fittings scooped seven awards in one go. What a fantastic start to the New Year for the in-house GROHE Design Studio team.

This year the distinguished jury had to judge nearly 2,500 award entries. The entrants come from 39 different countries and competed in 16 different categories. Evaluation criteria included design quality, workmanship, degree of innovation, environmental compatibility and functionality. Products are judged in accordance with high standards, yet thanks to a perfect combination of quality, design and technology, GROHE has continued its long run of successes.

And the winners are …

This year’s seven winners from the GROHE collection belong to very different segments. For instance GROHE Blue® is an appealing system for the kitchen, which filters tap water. The attractive-looking fitting provides both conventional hot and cold water as well as delicious filtered water, served in a singular carafe. Two bathroom fitting lines also came out on top. Both the Veris “Freestander” and washbasin taps with high and low spouts won accolades. A particular highlight that they both feature is the GROHE Joy Lever with the light aesthetic of a joy stick and the ergonomics of a lever. Europlus appealed both as a washbasin and as a bidet fitting. The new look of this bestselling classic is determined by GROHE Design DNA features.

GROHE also entered a thermostat for these awards. The design of Grohtherm 1000 Cosmopolitan for bathtubs and showers is an expression of absolute purism and appealed right down the line. The distinctively styled Euphoria shower system, consisting of an overhead shower, handheld shower and thermostat, is an outstanding representative of our comprehensive range of shower systems and it too won the jury over. Sober elegance and minimalism also enabled the Sena shower system to win an iF product design award 2010.

The seventh award went to the Tectron Skate, Nova and Skate Cosmopolitan WC actuation panels. They combine functionality with contemporary styling and turn everyday objects into handsome works of the designer’s art.

A real marker for 2010

This outstanding success also fills Paul Flowers, Senior Vice President Design of Grohe AG, with an immense amount of pride. “Seven iF product design awards in one go – that is our absolute record. And it demonstrates to us the potential that there is in our products. This has enabled us to lay down a real marker for 2010.”

The awards will be presented on 2 March 2010 in Hanover. As every year the iF awards ceremony will take place on the first day of CeBIT, the world’s largest ICT exhibition. Visitors to CeBIT can view the winners of the latest iF design awards at a dedicated on-site exhibition.
