Travel around the world in the first zoo themed hotel

Hotel property of the year fitted with GROHE

Awarded for an unusual experience concept: The Hamburg Lindner Park-Hotel Hagenbeck is “Hotel Property of the Year 2009” and has now also received the European “Hotel Property Award 2009”. The world’s first zoo themed hotel impressed the judging panel of hotel developers, architects, designers and operators with its original and high quality implementation of the travel theme. From the lobby to the lifts to the 158 rooms every detail has pulled in the votes. The creatively designed bathrooms are fitted with high quality GROHE products, whose design stylishly underlines the unique atmosphere of the house.

Original and unique

Authenticity is the magic word. References to the history of the Hagenbeck family and the continents where the inhabitants of the adjacent zoo and tropical aquarium come from, are reflected in numerous details, real antiques and artefacts as well as typically German art. Nothing in the interior comes across as contrived or over-the-top. So the lobby forms the cosy base for the journey around the world. Inviting leather armchairs, a fireplace, wood-panelled walls and souvenirs from all corners of the world create an atmosphere resembling a lounge of a Hamburg business man in the 19th century.

What was once a laborious sea voyage to foreign corners of the earth the guests now approach comfortably in a lift. From the outside its doors show historical photos of Hamburg’s port, the interior resembles a wood-panelled ship cabin with portholes. Even the light in the lift has been integrated into the overall architectural concept. On the first and second floor the cabin is immersed in the warm light of Africa, on the third and fourth floor the greenish atmosphere of the Asian rainforests emerges and the fifth floor captures the cool blue of the polar night. This is where the hotel’s wellness area is located – perfectly embedded in the Arctic landscape. The saunas resemble Nordic wooden cabins, the relaxation room offers a view of the ice bears in the snow.

Exotic to the last detail

The interior fittings on all floors are individually designed, handmade or collected on journeys around the world. For example, on the bed in the Africa rooms lies a hand woven curtain scarf with elephants, antelopes and lions. The headboard catches the eye with its light yellow ostrich leather, in front of the bed stands a transportable safari bench in solid beech wood. African masks on the walls add the finishing touch.

The bathroom also presents itself just as uniquely. An apparent wall opening in the room kept in the look of light natural stone turns out to be a mirror. The drum covered with dark coconut wood contains the washbasin. Every bathroom in the Lindner Park-Hotel Hagenbeck features GROHE fittings, concealed valves and shower heads. The modern Atrio fittings on the washstands and baths offer a lifetime of smooth operation of the lever and maximum functionality despite the heavy usage in the hotel. The concealed valves Rapido E and T guarantee water in perfection – even when all guests shower at the same time, everyone gets the temperature and the water pressure they want. Rainshower shower heads with their lavish spray pattern and pleasant drops of rain ensure unforgettable shower experiences.

With its exciting interior design staging and the international culinary offering in the Auglia restaurant the Lindner Park-Hotel Hagenbeck has taken its guests along a journey around the world into the native lands of animals from the adjacent Hagenbeck zoo since May 2009. A concept that has won over: The judging panel of “Hotel Property Awards 2009” and the guests.
